Southern States Professional Potting Mix
The best choice for container gardening!
Southern States Professional Potting Mix covers 1 cubic foot.
Our finest soil media is ready to use, complete with fertilizer and is pH adjusted to suit both indoor and outdoor house plants.
For best results, follow these planting tips for repotting and container gardening:
- Select a container that is 1 or 2 sizes larger than the old container (about 1 inch larger).
- Make sure it has sufficient drainage holes.
If re-using a container, scrub it thoroughly and disinfect it to prevent disease. To disinfect, use a diluted solution of house- hold bleach (about 9 parts water to 1 part bleach) and soak cleaned pots for about 30 minutes, then rinse again. - Fill about 1/3 of container with Southern States Professional Potting Mix.
- While supporting the plant, carefully remove the root ball from the old pot by tapping the bottom. If the root ball is compact, gently loosen to encourage new growth.
- Place plant into new container and fill the sides and top with Southern States Professional Potting Mix to about 1 inch below the pot’s rim.
- Water thoroughly and allow to drain.
Plant Care Reminders:
- Do not over water or allow the plant to sit in drainage water. Too much watering can cause leaves to turn yellow and decay
- Place plant in an appropriate location to suit its desired light requirements.
- If there is little or no leaf growth, yellow or wilted leaves, or roots appear on the soil surface or protrude through drainage holes, repot plants for best results.
