The Pony People 4-H Horse Club donated a spanking new stock trailer to the Oldham County Animal Control, located in La Grange, Kentucky. The Oldham Animal Control has needed a trailer for the past several years. Only through the generosity of others have they been able to borrow the trailers necessary to rescue horses. That generosity has hit a high point with The Pony People 4-H Club, whose dedication adds up to 14,800 Southern States Proofs of Purchases through the SHOW Program, totaling a whopping $3700 (that’s 25 cents each!). Several local racehorse trainers and horse owners saved receipts and stacks of feed bags to help aid the club. It took four years to raise these funds and Southern States Proofs of Purchases – but the Oldham Animal Control will get decades worth of service out of this donation.
Merle, left, was discovered by an Animal Control officer tied to a tree with no food or water. Given his desperate situation, it’s doubtful he could have made it another week if he had not been found. Luckily the USERL (www.USERL.org) came to his rescue. Sylvia Boyles and her husband are the proud new adoptive owners of Merle. This is
a life long dream for Sylvia. She has always wanted to save a horse like Merle, and she continues to watch him improve and strengthen on Legends® feed. Now with the help of a trainer, Sylvia and Merle are working on natural horsemanship and becoming a team. For the happy pair, each new day is its own reward. Sylvia would like to thank Bruce Hayworth at the Clemmons Mill Store in Clemmons, NC.
Four horses, two children, one over-packed trailer and two thousand miles of paved asphalt - what an adventure for the Angelone family! They traveled across the country in order for their daughter Martha to compete in the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. The horses were under more than normal stress given the extraordinary summer heat and the many miles in the trailer, but they maintained wonderfully due to Legends® Performance feed and the Triple Crown® Premium Chopped Alfalfa. The alfalfa forage is a constant for the horses while on the road because there is zero waste, and
the convenient packaging withstands any weather. The Angelone horses compete in many different rodeo events and must be ready to compete every weekend. The Angelone family are true believers in Southern States. “We could not achieve the goals we have set and reached without the top quality food that we depend on from Southern States,” says Martha Angelone. “Thanks for helping us to be competitive with horses that thrive on your feeds!” The Angelones purchase all of their horse feed from the Winchester Co-Op on Amherst Street in Winchester, VA.
Martha qualified for the Wrangler National Rodeo Finals after becoming Virginia’s All-Around Cowgirl for the second straight year!
