Worth The Trip
The Arabian Nationals were held in October in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Congratulations to Southern States customer Tommy Garland. He was National Champion Junior Horse Western Pleasure with Pegasus Arabians’ Masquerade. He also acted as trainer for Dick Jenkin’s SF Front Row who was Reserve National Champion Half Arab Halter Gelding. The long trip out to New Mexico was DEFINITELY worth it!
A Classic Win
Debbie McDonald, who works at the Emporia (VA) Southern States, had a successful outing with her yearling gelding, I Got The Invitation, at the Central Virginia Paint Horse Color Classic Fall Futurity & POR in mid-October. The duo was reserve champion in the Yearling Lounge Line Futurity and NSBA.
Gelding Gallops To Gold
The leader of the victory gallop at the USGPL $10,000 PreGreen Hunter Classic was none other than the Southern States-fed gelding, Key West. Eric Dirks and Jan Simpson of Manakin Sabot, VA, trained the grey gelding owned by Jessie Smith to the win. Dirks was in the irons for the win.
Speeding Through Oklahoma City
Eric Fabian, of Schenectady, NY, had a great showing at the USTRC Finals in Oklahoma City in October. He and his team roping partner Bob Hoyt were the 9th high team to be called back to the short go/final round. They ended up 10th in the #8 roping. They won their rotation, with the fastest time of the day and in addition had drawn a money steer, which if caught, with the fastest time of the day, they win a bonus gift certificate of $500.00. They did it and were able to move onto the final round! Congrats to Eric (who is only 16!) and Bob. Eric fuels his team roping horses with Legends feeds purchased from Altamont Country Values in NY.
On Fire With Ice
Southern States Equine FSA, Susanne Clifford, was champion in the Ladies Sidesaddle at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show on October 24th aboard Sally Lamb’s gorgeous grey gelding, Sea Salt. Susanne and “Ice” have been on quite a winning streak this year and have their sights set on the USEF National title.
Three-For-Three
Liza Towell Boyd, of Camden, SC, and Caroline Clark Morrison’s lovely chestnut gelding Brunello won the Triple Crown (so to speak) when they were champions in the Regular Working Hunter division at all three fall indoor shows. They took home the championship coolers from Capital Challenge (MD), Washington International and Pennsylvania National. Brunello is fueled by Triple Crown products.
