It’s amazing how you wake up one morning and summer has arrived. Gone are the laid back days of spring that made riding for hours and barn cleaning easy endeavors. We now hunt the coolest part of the day to get the most out of our barn time. For the love of our horses we will continue to battle the flies and the heat.

Horse show season is in full swing and we have stories about top competitors in the Arabian, eventing and cutting arenas. Just in case your horse needs a few days of vacation from you, we have the perfect road trip getaway, the Kentucky Horse Park. You’ll still be able to take pleasure in your equestrian spirit while getting away from the farm. As you flip through the pages, you’ll find that these customers are much like you, they are extremely passionate about their love for horses.

You’ll also find tips and advice on weaning nutrition, ulcer prevention, and pasture management – three important topics for this time of year! For those of you who are looking to buy or sell a horse, we go behind the scenes with Mike Jennings, one of the two brothers at the center of the fast-talking world of horse auctions. We’re also introducing our Feed Spotlight to help you find the best Southern States feed to meet your needs every day of every season of every year.

We really appreciate the trust you have in us to keep your horses happy and healthy. Enjoy this issue and have a great summer.
